Christmas: God Is With Us

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel. – Isaiah 7:14

Throughout the Bible, Jesus Christ is called many names. Some of these are: Light of the World, Prince of peace, Word of Life, Bread of Life, Good Shepherd, Lamb of God, Savior, True Vine and Immanuel. This last name, Immanuel, simply means “God with us.”

A long time ago, Jesus Christ came down to earth in the form of man. We celebrate this event every year at Christmas time. When Jesus arrived in human form, it was also God Himself who came down to earth to live among His people. The God who created the entire earth, the whole galaxy, and you and me took the time to be the little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay.

Just as He was here on Earth years ago, God is still with us today. No, we cannot see Him like some did back then but that makes Him no less real.

God is with us to bless us, love us, provide for us, and teach us. When we are hurt, He is with us to wipe away our tears. When we fall, He is with us to raise us up again. When we fear, He is with us to provide peace. When we are lonely, He is with us to be our friend.

When we truly believe that God is with us, we are free from all dark things. We are free to embrace a love that we do not deserve. We are free to worship a God Who sees a lot more in us then we see in ourselves.

He is here tonight. God is with us.
