1 Year In God’s Word: Day 18 — Job 25-27, Matthew 12:24-50

Job 25
Focus Verse: How then can a mortal be righteous before God? How can one born of woman be pure? (4)

Thanks to Bildad the Shuhite, we are reminded of what God has told us: There is none righteous, not even one. We have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Our unrighteousness is why we need a Savior. Our impurities are only erased through the blood of the Lamb.

Job 26
Focus Verse: He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing. (7)

The majority of this chapter is devoted to Job praising God’s awesome, majestic power in creation. We should not take the beauty of nature for granted. God made the world for us because He loves us and wants us to enjoy our time on earth. From the oceans to the mountains, from the valleys to the skies, from the flowers to the trees, all glory should go to the Creator for our wonderful world.

Job 27
Focus Verse: My lips will not say anything wicked, and my tongue will not utter lies. (4)

Our pain may be deep and despair near, but we should refrain from speaking ill of God or others. Bleakness should not cause our faith and trust in the goodness of God to wane.

Matthew 12:24-50
Focus Verse: A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him. (35)

The words we speak reveal what is really in our hearts. If we fill our hearts with good, positive, and encouraging things, then our speech will always be gracious with a dash of salt.
