1 Year In God’s Word: Day 57 — Leviticus 6-7, Mark 6:1-29

Leviticus 6
Focus Verse: When they sin in any of these ways and realize their guilt, they must return what they have stolen or taken by extortion, or what was entrusted to them, or the lost property they found. (4)

God is a fair and just God. If someone stole something from another person, it wasn’t enough for that person to make a sacrifice to God and be forgiven. No, the person who stole had to return what they had stolen with an added 20% (a fifth). If we do not right wrongs with our fellow brothers and sisters, we can’t expect to be right with God.

Leviticus 7
Focus Verse: These, then, are the regulations for the burnt offering, the grain offering, the sin offering, the guilt offering, the ordination offering and the fellowship offering. (37)

When He died on the cross, Jesus the Christ became all of the above mentioned sacrifices for us. Andrew Jukes said, “He is the Burnt-offering, the Meat-offering, the Peace-offering, the Sin-offering, and the Trespass-offering for His people. By His one oblation of Himself once offered, He has stood in all these different relations.”

Mark 6:1-29
Focus Verse: He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. (5)

Hebrews 11:6 says, “And without faith it is impossible to please God.” Jesus the Christ was only able to do a few miracles in His hometown because the people there were offended at Him and lacked faith. Our lack of faith stifles the blessings of God. He is not able to do great and mighty things for us because we do not believe that He is able.
