1 Year In God’s Word: Day 146 — Psalm 17, Psalm 19, John 9:24-41

Psalm 17
Focus Verse: Though people tried to bribe me, I have kept myself from the ways of the violent through what your lips have commanded. (4)

When pressured to do wrong, we need to stay focused on Jesus. Let us never stray from the straight and narrow, obeying what God has commanded us to do instead of being bribed into doing what is wrong.

Psalm 19
Focus Verse: The law of the Lord is perfect, refreshing the soul. The statutes of the Lord are trustworthy, making wise the simple. (7)

Some decry the laws of God as oppressive and restrictive, but David had the right attitude regarding them. Because God is perfect, those who want to do right will find that His law is perfect. His statutes (another word for law) are trustworthy; even the simple can understand and obey them. If we follow the right precepts and radiant commands of the Lord, we will have joy. We will endure forever.

John 9:24-41
Focus Verse: We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will. (31)

God hears the requests of all people, but He will only listen to and answer those who are doing His will. Jesus the Christ always had power from God to perform miracles because He was never outside of His Father’s will.
