1 Year In God’s Word: Day 149 — Psalm 27-29, John 11:1-29

Psalm 27
Focus Verse: Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. (14)

Despite being surrounded by enemies and going through days of trouble, David remains confident that one day soon he will see the goodness of the Lord. To this end, he advises us to place our trust in God and wait on Him.

Psalm 28
Focus Verse: To you, Lord, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit. (1)

David recognizes that if it wasn’t for the Lord being his Rock he would be no different from the unbelieving. The same goes for us and for all who claim to be followers of Jesus the Christ. We are sinners, albeit saved ones. Any good that we do or that we have is because of the God in us.

Psalm 29
Focus Verse: The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, “Glory!” (9)

Step outside and hear the voice of God. From the mighty ocean waters to the dry desert sand; deep in the forests and high on the mountains; through the speed of a cheetah and the grace of a soaring eagle – all of creation cries “Glory!” to the One Who made them. Shouldn’t we (who are made in His image) do the same?

John 11:1-29
Focus Verse: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” (25)

Death holds no fear or sorrow for those who believe in Jesus the Christ. Through the work He did on the cross for us, death lost its sting. The grave is no longer victorious. The end down here is actually just the beginning up there. Even though we die, one day, we will live again and live forever.

  1. MISSING SCRIPTURES BY STEVE FINNELL

I need help finding the missing Scriptures in my Bible. If anyone can find them I would appreciate the book, chapter, and verse. The following are a few verses I cannot find.

    1. Only clergy are sanctioned, by God, to perform baptisms.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    2. Jesus is one of many ways to the Father. There are many names given to men by which men may be saved.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    3. The only thing you have to do to be saved is believe in Jesus.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    4. Repentance is not a requirement to have your sins forgiven.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    5. Immersion in water (baptism) is nothing but a work and is unnecessary in order to be saved.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    6. All men are saved by grace alone. Salvation is the work of God. Man has no responsibility in his own salvation. If you are saved, it is because of God. If you are lost, God chose not to save you.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    7. In order to be saved you have to pray at a mourner’s bench.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    8. Men are saved by faith only.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    9. You are saved b water baptism alone.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    10. You are saved by repentance alone.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    11. You are saved by confessing Jesus as the Son of God. Nothing else is required.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    12. You are saved by saying the sinner’s prayer. All of the apostles, and the 1st century Christians were saved by saying the sinner’s prayer. Starting on the Day of Pentecost.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    13. Your sins are forgiven before you are baptized in water.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    14. If you die before you have a chance to believe you will be saved anyway, provided you had intentions to believe, but died before you had time.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    15. If you believed in Jesus but died before you confessed Him as Lord, or was baptized in water, you will still be saved; because God knows what was in your heart.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    16. You know you are saved if you speak in tongues.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    17. Even if you live a life of unrepentant sin you can never be lost. Once you saved you are always saved; because God preselected you for salvation.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    18. The rules for faith and practice for Christians are to be written, by men, in creed books and catechisms; because we cannot trust or understand the Bible.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    19. Christians cannot understand the Bible, even with the help of the Holy Spirit. Christians must use commentaries written by men to understand God’s word.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    20. If you do enough good works you will have your sins forgiven and you will inherit the kingdom of God.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    21. The purpose of water baptism is to demonstrate to the community, the faith you have in Jesus.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    22. Water baptism has nothing to do with forgiveness of sins; it is simply an act of obedience.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    23. God said baptism has three modes 1. immersion. 2. pouring. 3. sprinkling.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    24. The apostle Peter had the keys to the kingdom of heaven and the keys were that you say the “sinner’s prayer.”

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    25. You do not have to be baptized to get into heaven, however, you have to be baptized to become a member of the local church.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    26. Infants need to be baptized so their original sin can be forgiven.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    27. All men need to be forgiven of the sin that Adam and Eve committed; because all men inherited their sin.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    28. God predestined most people to burn in hell and there is no escape.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    29. Those living under the New Covenant can be saved just like the thief on the cross. They do not have to be baptized. They do not have to believe that God raised Jesus from the dead.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    30. God took billions of years to create the heavens and the earth. God did not create all things in six 24 hr days.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    31. The King James Bible is the only accurate translation of the Bible. No other translation has the true message from God to men.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    32. Under the New Covenant we have a new sanctuary that we meet in to worship.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

    33. The Virgin Mary is a mediator standing between men and Jesus. Men have to go through the Virgin Mary to petition God.

    A MISSING SCRIPTURE!

SCRIPTURES THAT ARE NOT MISSING FROM THE BIBLE!

Acts 20:29-30 I know that after my departure savage wolves will come in among you, not sparing the flock; 30 and from among your own selves men will arise, speaking perverse things, to draw away disciples after them.

There are still savage wolves who come into the church and distort the truth.

Mark 7:7-9 ‘But in vain do they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men.’ 8 Neglecting the commandment of God, you hold to the tradition of men.” 9. He was also saying to them, “You are experts at setting aside the commandment of God in order to to keep your tradition.

THE PRECEPTS OF OF MEN, THAT MEN TEACH TODAY ARE “THE MISSING SCRIPTURES.”
