Focus Verse: Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord. (14)
Despite being surrounded by enemies and going through days of trouble, David remains confident that one day soon he will see the goodness of the Lord. To this end, he advises us to place our trust in God and wait on Him.
Focus Verse: To you, Lord, I call; you are my Rock, do not turn a deaf ear to me. For if you remain silent, I will be like those who go down to the pit. (1)
David recognizes that if it wasn’t for the Lord being his Rock he would be no different from the unbelieving. The same goes for us and for all who claim to be followers of Jesus the Christ. We are sinners, albeit saved ones. Any good that we do or that we have is because of the God in us.
Focus Verse: The voice of the Lord twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, “Glory!” (9)
Step outside and hear the voice of God. From the mighty ocean waters to the dry desert sand; deep in the forests and high on the mountains; through the speed of a cheetah and the grace of a soaring eagle – all of creation cries “Glory!” to the One Who made them. Shouldn’t we (who are made in His image) do the same?
Focus Verse: Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die.” (25)
Death holds no fear or sorrow for those who believe in Jesus the Christ. Through the work He did on the cross for us, death lost its sting. The grave is no longer victorious. The end down here is actually just the beginning up there. Even though we die, one day, we will live again and live forever.
