1 Year In God’s Word: Day 204 — Psalm 67, Psalm 71, Philippians 2

Psalm 67
Focus Verse: So that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations. (2)

Why should we live in such a way for God to bless us? Why should we pray for God to bless us? We should seek God’s blessings not only for our own benefit, but so that others will come to know of His salvation and His marvelous ways. Our lives should make unbelievers want Who we have in their own lives.

Psalm 71
Focus Verse: As for me, I will always have hope; I will praise you more and more. (14)

We always have hope because God is a rock of refuge Who we can always go to in times of trouble. God does not only love us when we are healthy, but also when we are sick. His love for us at old age is the same as His love for us in our days of youth. God will never forsake us. He is never far from us. He is always quick to help us.

Philippians 2
Focus Verse: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves. (3)

When we put others above ourselves and look out for the interests of others instead of just our own interests, we are imitating Jesus the Christ. When He was here on earth, Jesus made Himself nothing, became a servant of all and was obedient to the will of His Father. When Jesus died on the cross, He was valuing us above Himself. It wasn’t selfish ambition or vain conceit that led Him to Golgotha. Every thing that He did, He did it all for us. He truly had our best interests at heart.
