Psalm 119:89-176
Focus Verse: Your statutes are wonderful; therefore I obey them. (129)

God did not give us His Word to obey because He wanted to keep us from having fun. He did not establish laws to hold us back from the good things of life. Rather, being obedient to God gives us more freedom than we could ever wish for. God’s law is not one of bondage; it is a law of liberty.

2 Thessalonians 1
Focus Verse: We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. (3)

There should never come a time in our Christian walk when our faith stops growing. It’s impossible for finite human beings to know all there is to know about God or to understand all of His ways, so we must always be learning. We must always be striving and praying to become more like Christ in our words, actions and attitudes. Everyday, our faith should grow a bit more and our love for God and for each other should increase a bit more. Charles Spurgeon said: “By that means you are to grow. This is so with faith. Do all you can, and then do a little more; and when you can do that, then do a little more than you can. Always have something in hand that is greater than your present capacity. Grow up to it, and when you have grown up to it, grow more.”
