1 Year In God’s Word: Day 217 — Psalm 127-129, Acts 18

Psalm 127
Focus Verse: Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch in vain. (1)

Even good work is done in vain if it does not have God’s approval and blessing.

Psalm 128
Focus Verse: Blessed are all who fear the Lord, who walk in obedience to him. (1)

Having a Godly fear of the Lord leads to obedience and obedience to the Lord leads to blessing.

Psalm 129
Focus Verse: “They have greatly oppressed me from my youth, but they have not gained the victory over me.” (2)

Ever since the people of Israel came into existence, they have been oppressed repeatedly. Yet they have not been destroyed because of the righteousness of the Lord. It is His righteousness, faithfulness and goodness that continues to preserve them and us, His adopted people, to this day.

Acts 18
Focus Verse: One night the Lord spoke to Paul in a vision: “Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent.” (9)

God spoke this word of encouragement to Paul years ago. He would say the same thing to believers today. It may be safer to be silent about our faith or to shut up about what the Bible says, but God does not want us to be afraid. He is with us. No one has the power to hurt us without His permission.
