1 Year In God’s Word: Day 218 — Psalm 130-132, 1 Corinthians 1

Psalm 130
Focus Verse: If you, Lord, kept a record of sins, Lord, who could stand? (3)

Thank God that He does not keep a record of our many, many sins. Once we place our faith in Him and ask for His forgiveness, He forgives us permanently and removes our sins as far from us as the east is from the west.

Psalm 131
Focus Verse: But I have calmed and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother; like a weaned child I am content. (2)

Our souls will not be calm or quiet until they find rest in the One who made them. Regardless of the great matters that go on in the world, eternal contentment can be found in Christ.

Psalm 132
Focus Verse: “Till I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.” (5)

David was more concerned about the things of the Lord, than he was about his own rest.

1 Corinthians 1
Focus Verse: Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (31)

This is why we can boldly say, “I am nothing without Christ!” Perhaps if we were wise, we could boast that it was our wisdom that saved us. If we were born a king or queen, we could boast that we were saved by our royal inheritance. If we were strong, we could boast that our strength bought us salvation. But we don’t boast in any of that. We boast in the foolishness of the message of the cross. We glory in our weaknesses, for then Christ’s power is made strong and perfect in us.
