1 Year In God’s Word: Day 232 — Psalm 87-88, 1 Corinthians 12

Psalm 87
Focus Verse: The Lord loves the gates of Zion more than all the other dwellings of Jacob. (2)

“Zion” in this psalm refers to Jerusalem. It is the city of God. When Jesus the Christ returns, He will rule the earth from the city of Jerusalem. Zion has a special place in God’s heart; He loves this city.

Psalm 88
Focus Verse: Is your love declared in the grave, your faithfulness in Destruction? (11)

Yes, death does not end the love of God. His faithfulness goes on even when we do not.

1 Corinthians 12
Focus Verse: And God has placed in the church first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then miracles, then gifts of healing, of helping, of guidance, and of different kinds of tongues. (28)

God does not only want apostles to serve in His kingdom, but prophets and teachers and those who have the gift of helping as well. He does not only want men, but women and children too. Americans are not the only people who are called to do God’s work, but Asians and Jews and Africans too. The many of us make up the one body of Christ.
