1 Chronicles 26
Focus Verse: All these were descendants of Obed-Edom; they and their sons and their relatives were capable men with the strength to do the work—descendants of Obed-Edom, 62 in all. (8)
God will not give us any work that we are not capable of handling. He would not have blessed us with the gift of life without also giving us the strength to live it.
1 Chronicles 27
Focus Verse: This is the list of the Israelites—heads of families, commanders of thousands and commanders of hundreds, and their officers, who served the king in all that concerned the army divisions that were on duty month by month throughout the year. Each division consisted of 24,000 men. (1)
We too are in the service of the King – not an imperfect, fallible one like David; but a perfect, infallible One Who will never lead us astray.
1 Corinthians 15:1-34
Focus Verse: And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. (17)
As Christians, we often place great emphasis on Christ’s death on the cross.
Jesus died to save you!
Jesus died because He loves you!
How much does Jesus love me? So much that He stretched out His arms and died!
Only when Easter rolls around do we remember that Jesus did not only die, He also rose from the dead.
Jesus rose to give us eternal life!
Jesus lives because He loves you!
How much does Jesus love me? So much that He not only stretched out His arms and died, but also conquered death and the grave!
Now that is good news! When I really thought about it, there isn’t much joy in Jesus’ death. My sins put an innocent Man to death. Why would I be happy in that knowledge. The joy comes in Jesus’ resurrection. Jesus’ death would be meaningless, the entire Christian faith would be a grand fraud and living (or dying) for Christ on Earth would be worthless if it was not for Jesus’ resurrection. But thank God our faith is not in vain. Because He lives, we shall live too!
