1 Year In God’s Word: Day 244 — 2 Chronicles 17-18, 2 Corinthians 6

2 Chronicles 17
Focus Verse: But sought the God of his father and followed his commands rather than the practices of Israel. (4)

Because Jehoshaphat sought and followed God instead of going after false gods, God blessed him with great wealth and honor.

2 Chronicles 18
Focus Verse: When the chariot commanders saw Jehoshaphat, they thought, “This is the king of Israel.” So they turned to attack him, but Jehoshaphat cried out, and the Lord helped him. God drew them away from him. (31)

Even in battle, God was with Jehoshaphat. He helped him and protected him from being killed by an arrow that was meant for Ahab, king of Israel.

2 Corinthians 6
Focus Verse: Therefore, “Come out from them and be separate, says the Lord. Touch no unclean thing, and I will receive you.” (17)

God calls us to come out from the world. No, He doesn’t mean to leave Earth and go live on some other desolate planet. But He does want us to be different from those who are not following Him. We ought to be righteous, not wicked; full of light, not darkness. We shouldn’t look like, act like, talk like, or think like an old creation when Christ has made us new. Our faith should make us blend out.
