1 Year In God’s Word: Day 250 — Isaiah 1-2, 2 Corinthians 11:16-33

Isaiah 1
Focus Verse: Stop bringing meaningless offerings! Your incense is detestable to me. New Moons, Sabbaths and convocations—I cannot bear your worthless assemblies. (13)

Apparently, the people of Judah and Jerusalem were in rebellion against God, but were still offering burnt offerings and blood offerings to Him in the temple. God no longer wanted their sacrifices when He did not have their respect and love. Likewise, God does not want to hear our prayers when our hearts are far from Him. Our ministry becomes meaningless and our worship becomes worthless when our deeds are wrong.

Isaiah 2
Focus Verse: The arrogance of man will be brought low and human pride humbled; the Lord alone will be exalted in that day. (17)

One day, every tongue will confess that Christ is Lord and every knee will bow before Him. No one will be able to stand before His majestic splendor. But we do not have to wait to exalt the Lord; we can do it now.

2 Corinthians 11:16-33
Focus Verse: If I must boast, I will boast of the things that show my weakness. (30

Paul shows his sarcastic side in the early part of this passage. Since only fools boast, he says, let me do a bit of boasting too. However, Paul does not boast about what he has done for himself. He boasts about what he has done and what he has gone through for His Lord. He does not boast to bring attention to his name, but to God’s. He boasts of the things that show his weakness in order for God’s strength to be glorified.
