1 Year In God’s Word: Day 252 — Isaiah 5-6, 2 Corinthians 13

Isaiah 5
Focus Verse: Therefore, as tongues of fire lick up straw and as dry grass sinks down in the flames, so their roots will decay and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty and spurned the word of the Holy One of Israel. (24)

We are told several times throughout the Bible that those who reject God’s commands and turn away from following Him, will perish. Only those who are obedient will live forever and be blessed eternally.

Isaiah 6
Focus Verse: Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?” And I said, “Here am I. Send me!” (8)

God was looking for someone to go and be a prophet to Judah and Israel; Isaiah willingly made himself available for that purpose. God is not looking for the trained or the talented or the educated (even though it doesn’t hurt if you are those things). God is looking for people with willing hearts and hands who are available to do His will. When God calls, may our answer be the same as Isaiah’s – “Here am I. Send me!”

2 Corinthians 13
Focus Verse: Finally, brothers and sisters, rejoice! Strive for full restoration, encourage one another, be of one mind, live in peace. And the God of love and peace will be with you. (11)

When we are living in disharmony with others, the Spirit of God cannot dwell among us. God is a God of love and peace. He is not in Heaven having constant arguments with His Son and the angels. Everyone up there are of one mind and live in unity together. Since we will live in Heaven one day forever, we would do well to start living in peace down here.
