1 Year In God’s Word: Day 255 — 2 Chronicles 31-32, Acts 20:1-16

2 Chronicles 31
Focus Verse: As soon as the order went out, the Israelites generously gave the firstfruits of their grain, new wine, olive oil and honey and all that the fields produced. They brought a great amount, a tithe of everything. (5)

God is pleased when His people tithe of all that they have. He loves to see His people give generously and give their best. When we realize that everything we have comes from God, it will not be so difficult to give back what already belongs to Him.

2 Chronicles 32
Focus Verse: King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz cried out in prayer to heaven about this. (20)

Hezekiah knew Who to turn to in times of trouble. Because he sought the Lord and was obedient to the Lord even before Sennacherib laid siege to Jerusalem, he could confidently tell his people, “there is a greater power with us than with him.” Even before he prayed, Hezekiah was certain that God would help them. He had faith that God would fight their battles.

Acts 20:1-16
Focus Verse: On the first day of the week we came together to break bread. Paul spoke to the people and, because he intended to leave the next day, kept on talking until midnight. (7)

Paul was committed to sharing the Gospel and he was passionate about teaching others the word of God. He didn’t preach for show. He didn’t only preach when he was around unbelievers. He also preached to friends and fellow believers in Christ. Every opportunity he was given, Paul was prepared to preach the word, to correct, to rebuke and to encourage. His zeal for the Lord was sincere and not motivated by any personal gain.
