1 Year In God’s Word: Day 256 — Isaiah 7-8, Acts 20:17-38

Isaiah 7
Focus Verse: Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (14)

Jesus the Christ was called Immanuel because it was God Himself who came down from Heaven to live among and die for sinful humans like you and me. Just as He was here on Earth years ago, God is still with us today.

God is with us to bless us, love us, provide for us, and teach us. When we are hurt, He is with us to wipe away our tears. When we fall, He is with us to raise us up again. When we fear, He is with us to provide peace. When we are lonely, He is with us to be our friend.

Isaiah 8
Focus Verse: Devise your strategy, but it will be thwarted; propose your plan, but it will not stand, for God is with us. (10)

God is with all those who have made the decision to truly believe in Him and follow Him. This knowledge should calm our fears and eliminate our doubts. No matter how much others may strategize and plan for us to fail, they will not be successful. We also should be careful not to leave God out of our plans because they will not stand.

Acts 20:17-38
Focus Verse: However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace. (24)

We can consider our lives nothing because we know that they are valuable to God. We will not be concerned with whether we live or die because either way we belong to the Lord. Our main goal in life should be to fulfill the purpose that God has created us for and to bring Him glory while doing it. Don’t let people or things distract you from the race you have been given to run.
