1 Year In God’s Word: Day 268 — Isaiah 37-38, Romans 5

Isaiah 37
Focus Verse: Hezekiah received the letter from the messengers and read it. Then he went up to the temple of the Lord and spread it out before the Lord. (14)

When we are facing a problem, we would do well to follow the example of Hezekiah and spread out our cares and concerns before the Lord. We shouldn’t try to handle it ourselves; we just need to depend on God.

Isaiah 38
Focus Verse: “Go and tell Hezekiah, ‘This is what the Lord, the God of your father David, says: I have heard your prayer and seen your tears; I will add fifteen years to your life. (5)

Sincere prayer from an obedient, humble heart can influence God to change negative circumstances.

Romans 5
Focus Verse: The law was brought in so that the trespass might increase. But where sin increased, grace increased all the more. (20)

The law causes sin to abound because it clearly shows how we fail to keep it. But God’s grace abounds even more than sin. The grace and love of God is greater than any sin. Through one man, Adam, we were cursed and given death. Through one man, Jesus the Christ, we are saved and given eternal life. One sinful act, a bite from a forbidden tree’s fruit, resulted in condemnation for all people. One righteous act, a perfect Man dying on the cross, resulted in justification and life for all people.
