1 Year In God’s Word: Day 275 — Isaiah 53-55, Romans 10

Isaiah 53
Focus Verse: But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was on him, and by his wounds we are healed. (5)

Jesus the Christ was hurt so we could be healed, pierced so we could have peace, and crushed so we could be conquerors.

Isaiah 54
Focus Verse: Though the mountains be shaken and the hills be removed, yet my unfailing love for you will not be shaken nor my covenant of peace be removed,” says the Lord, who has compassion on you. (10)

No matter how imperfect your life may be and no matter how destructive the world may get, God’s love for you and me will never fail. Other people may come in and out of our lives, we will even disappoint and fail ourselves; but God’s love will not be shaken. It will remain; He will not remove it. Just as God promised Noah to never flood the earth again, He has promised to have compassion on us and love us no matter what.

Isaiah 55
Focus Verse: “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without money and without cost. (1)

This is Jesus’ invitation to our thirsty world: Come! Is anyone thirsty? Come! All who will, come and drink, drink freely of the Water of Life! What is the cost to get a drink of Jesus’ living water? There is no cost. It is free for us because He paid for it with His blood. Anyone who is dying of thirst can drink freely of the fountain of the water of life. They will never thirst again.

Romans 10
Focus Verse: For, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (13)

Paul gives assurance that everyone who believes in Jesus the Christ will be saved and will never be put to shame. It doesn’t matter what one’s race or social status is – the same God is God of all. He will save and richly bless all who call on Him.
