1 Year In God’s Word: Day 278 — Isaiah 62-64, Romans 12

Isaiah 62
Focus Verse: As a young man marries a young woman, so will your Builder marry you; as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will your God rejoice over you. (5)

God takes great delight in all who trust in Him and receive His salvation. He builds us up so that our light will shine like a blazing torch to others who do not yet know Him. He rejoices over us with genuine gladness.

Isaiah 63
Focus Verse: I will tell of the kindnesses of the Lord, the deeds for which he is to be praised, according to all the Lord has done for us—yes, the many good things he has done for Israel, according to his compassion and many kindnesses. (7)

It is good for us to remember the many good things that God has done for us. To remember the compassion He had on us. To remember the kindness He showed us. And once we remember, we should tell others about His mighty deeds so that they too can give Him the praise He is due.

Isaiah 64
Focus Verse: Since ancient times no one has heard, no ear has perceived, no eye has seen any God besides you, who acts on behalf of those who wait for him. (4)

A couple of chapters back in Isaiah 40:31, we are told that those who wait for the Lord will renew their strength. God always acts on behalf of those who wait for Him. He helps those who acknowledge Him in all their ways and trust in Him to deliver instead of trusting in themselves. It may seem like you are waiting in vain, but be patient and do not lose hope; God will come to you at the right time and help you.

Romans 12
Focus Verse: Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer. (12)

If we are sincere in our love for God and others, it will show through our actions. We will be joyful in Christ Who is our hope. Because He lives, a situation is never hopeless. Our hope is as alive as He is. We will be patient in affliction because we know that Christ is always with us and will not ever leave us. Nothing happens to us without His knowledge and permission. He will even work times of difficulty and pain out for our good. We will be faithful in prayer because we have the assurance that He not only hears our prayers, but He is also able and more than willing to answer them.
