1 Year In God’s Word: Day 306 — Jeremiah 31-32, Hebrews 8

Jeremiah 31
Focus Verse: Then young women will dance and be glad, young men and old as well. I will turn their mourning into gladness; I will give them comfort and joy instead of sorrow. (13)

God’s people sinned and the punishment He inflicted on them because of their sins has caused much sorrow and mourning. But God promises that He will not be against His people forever. He will restore them because of their repentance. He will turn their mourning into gladness, their crying into comfort, and their sorrow into joy.

Jeremiah 32
Focus Verse: I will rejoice in doing them good and will assuredly plant them in this land with all my heart and soul. (41)

Even while punishing the people of Israel, God was already thinking of how much He would bless them again in the future. While allowing them to be destroyed, He was already planning how He would restore them. God’s wrath is not everlasting. He does not rejoice in distributing retribution; He rejoices in doing good to and for His people.

Hebrews 8
Focus Verse: Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, (1)

Our high priest is in Heaven at the right hand of God. He serves in a sanctuary that was not made by human beings, but by the Lord Himself.
