Focus Verse: “Son of man, these men have set up idols in their hearts and put wicked stumbling blocks before their faces. Should I let them inquire of me at all? (3)
We may not have idols of wood and stone set up in our houses, but we should check our hearts often to make sure that we have not set up invisible idols in our hearts. It is the heart that God looks at.
Focus Verse: I will set my face against them. Although they have come out of the fire, the fire will yet consume them. And when I set my face against them, you will know that I am the Lord. (7)
God will set His face against the people of Jerusalem because of their disobedience and unfaithfulness.
2 Timothy 1
Focus Verse: For this reason I remind you to fan into flame the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. (6)
Paul encourages Timothy to make full use of the gift that God has given him. He is not to be ashamed of the Gospel or timid about sharing it. Because of the Spirit of God that is living inside of him, he is able to share his faith with power, he is able to love others with boldness, and he is able to practice self-discipline in every area of his life. We are also able to do this because the same Spirit that was in Timothy is also living inside of us. Let us not let the gift(s) God has given us die out. Instead, let us fan them into flame and serve God and others fearlessly, powerfully, and lovingly.
