1 Year In God’s Word: Day 335 — Ezekiel 40-41, 2 Peter 3

Ezekiel 40
Focus Verse: The man said to me, “Son of man, look carefully and listen closely and pay attention to everything I am going to show you, for that is why you have been brought here. Tell the people of Israel everything you see.” (4)

Ezekiel is taken on a tour of the temple as it is measured. He is told to pay attention to everything he is shown so he can tell the people of Israel everything he sees.

Ezekiel 41
Focus Verse: The face of a human being toward the palm tree on one side and the face of a lion toward the palm tree on the other. They were carved all around the whole temple. (19)

God is a builder, and a designer. From the creation of the world to the artistic detail of a temple to the uniqueness of a baby, God’s handiwork is full of His glory, beauty, order, and divinity.

2 Peter 3
Focus Verse: The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. (9)

There were those who scoffed and questioned Christ’s ‘coming’ back in Peter’s day. There are those who are still scoffing and questioning Christ’s coming in our day. Just because He is taking a long time to come, doesn’t mean He isn’t coming. God’s slowness is actually patience because it is not His will for anyone to perish without having first come to repentance. Since we are among those who believe that Christ will return and the earth will be destroyed, we ought to be people who are holy and live blameless lives, looking forward with eager expectation to that day.
