1 Year In God’s Word: Day 339 — Ezra 1-2, 1 John 4

Ezra 1
Focus Verse: In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and also to put it in writing. (1)

Jeremiah prophesied that after several long years the Jewish exiles would return to their land and rebuild the temple in Jerusalem. Cyrus, king of Persia, issued the proclamation that fulfilled this prophecy.

Ezra 2
Focus Verse: The whole company numbered 42,360. (64)

God preserved His people during their time of exile in Babylon and in the land of the Medes and Persians. Amidst their punishment, He kept watch over them, and allowed them to return to their own land in His good timing.

1 John 4
Focus Verse: You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. (4)

Whatever situation you find yourself in and whatever problem you may find yourself facing, go through it fearlessly because He Who is living inside of you is greater than anything or anyone outside of you. Because you are a child of God, you are more than a overcomer and already have the victory over all evil through Christ.
