Focus Verse: Rejoice greatly, Daughter Zion! Shout, Daughter Jerusalem! See, your king comes to you, righteous and victorious, lowly and riding on a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey. (9)
I believe that this verse refers to the first coming of Jesus the Christ. The Gospels tell us that Jesus’ triumphal entry into Jerusalem was made on “a donkey, on a colt, the foal of a donkey”, just as the above verse says. He came as a humble, righteous, meek and mild Messiah who brought salvation to the world.
But verse 10 refers to the second coming of Jesus the Christ. When He appears in the future, He will be riding on a horse and carrying a sword. After a time of war, He will proclaim peace to the nations and have dominion from sea to sea.
Focus Verse: Ask the Lord for rain in the springtime; it is the Lord who sends the thunderstorms. He gives showers of rain to all people, and plants of the field to everyone. (1)
God sends rain that makes plants to grow and flowers to flourish. We can ask Him to send us a spiritual shower so that our spiritual lives can also grow and flourish with His blessings of mercy, grace and love.
Focus Verse: Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near. (3)
And now we commence the reading of one of my favorite books of the Bible. Much of it sounds like a super-spiritual, end-times, sci-fi thriller full of beasts and angels and fighting. I don’t understand the half of Revelation, but I still like reading it!
All those who both read and believe this book of prophecy, will be blessed. Because God’s timing is different from our timing, the time for the things written in this book to come to pass is always near.
