1 Year In God’s Word: Day 349 — Psalm 79-80, Revelation 7

Psalm 79
Focus Verse: Do not hold against us the sins of past generations; may your mercy come quickly to meet us, for we are in desperate need. (8)

Even when it may not seem like it, we are always in desperate need of God’s mercy. If it were not for His mercy, we would all be doomed to eternal judgment and punishment because of our inherent sin nature.

Psalm 80
Focus Verse: How long, Lord God Almighty, will your anger smolder against the prayers of your people? (4)

Sometimes it does seem like God is angry with us. When our prayers go unanswered for years and our lives seem to be constantly filled with grief, it is easy to think that God’s face is not shining on us. But moments like this do not last forever. God is always near to us. We will be saved.

Revelation 7
Focus Verse: After this I looked, and there before me was a great multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, standing before the throne and before the Lamb. They were wearing white robes and were holding palm branches in their hands. (9)

Why is God so long in coming? One reason that He waits is because it is not His will for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance. God is giving every person a chance to accept His Son as Savior. He is giving every tribe an opportunity to hear the Gospel. He is giving every Christian enough time to do their part in making sure the Great Commission is fulfilled. When we all get to Heaven, Christ wants to have followers from EVERY race, culture, language, and nation, praising Him.
