Focus Verse: Let them know that you, whose name is the Lord—that you alone are the Most High over all the earth. (18)
In his prayer for God to destroy those who plot against His people, Asaph also prays for the world to recognize God’s power and glory. It is not his name that he wants to be known, it is the Lord’s. One of our most constant prayers should be for people to come to know that the Lord He is God.
Focus Verse: Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere; I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God than dwell in the tents of the wicked. (10)
The psalmist’s words are true – one day in God’s presence is better than a thousand days without Him. It is better to pursue God’s holiness than sinful pleasures. All those who choose to trust in the Lord will be blessed. No good thing will He withhold from them.
Focus Verse: They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. (4)
God looks out for His own. During the end time tribulations, those Christians who are still on earth will be given the seal of God which will protect them from all woes. Only those who refuse to repent and persist in their evil works (as verses 20, 21 say) will suffer.
