Focus Verse: This is the answer they gave us: “We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago, one that a great king of Israel built and finished. (11)
For those who are servants of God, authorization from humans is not needed to carry out His work. God’s ever-watching eye will protect them from all opposition.
Focus Verse: Whatever is needed—young bulls, rams, male lambs for burnt offerings to the God of heaven, and wheat, salt, wine and olive oil, as requested by the priests in Jerusalem—must be given them daily without fail. (9)
God made it so that those who were against the rebuilding of the temple of God, had to help in its construction. They were ordered by King Darius to give the people of Israel whatever they needed and to aid them in whatever way they could. When one’s actions please the Lord, God will make even their enemies to bless them.
Focus Verse: For Ezra had devoted himself to the study and observance of the Law of the Lord, and to teaching its decrees and laws in Israel. (10)
The hand of God was on Ezra because Ezra devoted himself to the Word of God. He was diligent in studying it and careful to observe (meaning to obey) the Law of the Lord. More than that, Ezra did not keep what he learned from God’s Word to himself. He taught it in Israel so that others also could study and observe it.
Focus Verse: The seventh angel sounded his trumpet, and there were loud voices in heaven, which said: “The kingdom of the world has become the kingdom of our Lord and of his Messiah, and he will reign for ever and ever.” (15)
This world currently does not belong completely to God. Yes, He made it and He owns it. He is in control of all that goes on here. But Satan also has significant power in the affairs of humans. One day, that will change. The kingdom of the world will become the kingdom of God. He will take back from Satan what He created in the beginning and His Son will reign forever and ever.
