1 Year In God’s Word: Day 364 — Malachi 1-2, Revelation 21

Malachi 1
Focus Verse: “I have loved you,” says the Lord. “But you ask, ‘How have you loved us?’ “Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?” declares the Lord. “Yet I have loved Jacob. (2)

All throughout Scripture God tells us that He loves us. He showed His love by sending His Son to die on the cross for our sins. Yet, like Israel, many of us still doubt God’s love. How can God love us? we ask. Why would God love us? God doesn’t require a reason to love me or you. He knows who we are, what we have done and loves us in spite of our imperfections.

Malachi 2
Focus Verse: True instruction was in his mouth and nothing false was found on his lips. He walked with me in peace and uprightness, and turned many from sin. (6)

May it be said of us that we gave Godly advice rooted in Scripture and were honest in all our words and deeds. That we walked in peace with God and people, and were the reason why many turned away from sin and toward salvation.

Revelation 21
Focus Verse: And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. (3)

Why did God create Adam and Eve? So that they could be His and so that He could be theirs. The book of Genesis tells us that before the fall, God walked in the garden of Eden with Adam and Eve and talked with them. But then Satan came…and we all know the rest of the story. Ever since that time, God has wanted nothing more than to erase the separation, division, and striving that sin has caused between Him and His creation. That is why He sent His Son, Jesus the Christ, to bridge the gulf and reconcile us to Him.

One day, all those who believe will no longer be separated from God – not spiritually, not physically. There will be a new Heaven and a new earth. God will live with us. Can you imagine it? God will actually, really live with us! We will be His people. He will be our God.
