New Testament In a Year: January 9 – Matthew 7

Matthew 7
The last part of this chapter says that the people were astonished at Jesus’ teaching because He taught with authority. Why was Jesus able to speak His words with authority? He was able to do so because He was the Word. All the words that Jesus spoke were in existence at the beginning of time when God created the heavens and the earth. All those words were with God when He said, “Let there be light.” Those words were God.

Jesus wasn’t making up random parables on the spur of the moment. He was merely speaking God-inspired, eternal, timeless truth.

Favorite verse: (7) “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
