New Testament In a Year: January 13 – Matthew 9:18-38

Matthew 9:18-38
(18-26) Besides assuring people that their sins were forgiven before healing them, Christ also recognized their faith. How did all the people who were healed by Jesus get healed? By faith. The woman who suffered from a discharge of blood for 12 YEARS (!) was healed by Jesus because she believed He would heal her. “If I only touch his garment,” she said. “I will be made well.” She didn’t say, “I think I will be made well,” or “I hope I will be made well.” She said, “I WILL be made well.”

(27-31) Two blind men also had faith to be healed and receive their sight. When Jesus asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” They answered, “Yes, Lord.” Jesus touched their eyes and immediately their eyes were opened. Because of sin, they were blind. By faith, they received their sight.

God cannot do anything for us if we do not have faith. Without faith it is impossible to please Him. If we come to God, we must believe that He is able.

Favorite verse: (22) Jesus turned, and seeing her he said, “Take heart, daughter; your faith has made you well.” And instantly the woman was made well.
