Matthew 15:1-20
(1-9) We should rather break tradition for the sake of keeping God’s commandments, instead of break God’s commandments for the sake of tradition. He wants our hearts, not lip-honor.

(10-20) People often warn us to be careful about what we watch, what we listen to, and what we put into our bodies, lest it defile us. But Christ is more concerned about what comes out of us. This doesn’t mean we can inject drugs or watch/listen to pointless media that doesn’t edify or encourage us in goodness, grace, and Godliness. However, Christ wants us to understand that the uncleanness is within, not without. Murder, adultery, theft, and lies are all thoughts in the heart (internal) before they are carried out (external).

Favorite verse: (10) And he called the people to him and said to them, “Hear and understand.
