(1-22) Seven Woes to the Scribes and Pharisees
Jesus told the crowds and His disciples that the words of the scribes and the Pharisees could be followed, but their actions not so much. Unlike Jesus, the scribes and the Pharisees did not practice what they preached. They outwardly pretended to be righteous, but inwardly they were far from God. Not only did they not desire to enter the kingdom of heaven, but they did not want others to enter either. With heavy burdens and false teachings, they actively worked to keep others from knowing the One Who created them.
