(54-65) Jesus Before the Council
The chief priests and religious council were desperately looking for something with which they could legally condemn Jesus the Christ. They could, however, find nothing. Jesus lived a perfect life. He never did or said or thought anything wrong. And in condemning Him to be crucified, they killed a perfect Man. We are in no way like Jesus and will never reach His perfect state here on earth, but we still ought to live our lives in such a way that people are hard pressed to find our actions worthy of condemnation.
(66-72) Peter Denies Jesus
Peter’s denial of Jesus the Christ is not a positive situation, but it should be noted that the girls knew who he was because he had been with Jesus. When people see us, do they immediately associate us with Jesus? Are others able to tell that we have spent time with Jesus and are His followers. Can they point us out and say, “Certainly you are also with the Nazarene, Jesus.”
