Luke 2:1-24
(1-7) The Birth of Jesus Christ
There was not only no place for Jesus, but there was also no place for Joseph or Mary. To be associated with Jesus does not mean we will have the best of everything. It will sometimes mean being shut out, denied entry, and mistreated.

(8-21) The Shepherds and the Angels
How strange it is that heavenly things often cause us to fear. When angels appeared to Zechariah, Joseph, Mary, the shepherds, and others in the Bible, the first thing they said was “Fear not!” There are two definitions of fear: (1) to regard something or someone, such as God, with reverence and awe; and (2) an unpleasant emotion caused by the belief that someone or something is dangerous. We don’t know what kind of fear the shepherds experienced, but the presence of God should not be regarded as something that is dangerous or threatening. To know God is to know perfect love, and to be perfectly loved by God is to be fearless, because perfect love casts out all fear.

Favorite verse: (11) For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.
