(26-39) Jesus Heals a Man with a Demon
The Bible says that the demon would drive this man into the desert. Instead of dwelling in the city with other living people, he dwelt among the tombs with the dead or by himself in the desert. Satan always drives people away from one another. He rejoices when we isolate ourselves from family, friends, and community. It is easier for us to give in to temptation, do the wrong thing, and despair of life altogether when we have no one around us telling us to do the right thing or pushing us to keep going. Jesus, on the other hand, is all about family. He wants people to come together in unity and love and be one in Him.
(40-55) Jesus Heals a Woman and Jairus’s Daughter
The woman with the discharge of blood had spent all she had on doctors in an effort to be made well, but only Jesus had the power to heal her. Even today there are many things that only Jesus can heal. There are some broken hearts that only Christ can put back together. There are some shattered lives that only Christ can restore. No matter how long we may have held on to sickness, sadness, pain, regret, or disappointment, it is never too late for God to make us well.
