New Testament In a Year: April 7 – Luke 9:37-62

Luke 9:37-62
(37-43) Jesus Heals a Boy with an Unclean Spirit
The unclean spirit that this boy had did nothing but hurt him and would not leave him alone. This is exactly how Satan works. He enters us only to shatter us, first by sin, and then eventually by death. But when Christ enters our lives, He saves us to eternal life.

(51-56) A Samaritan Village Rejects Jesus
Jesus had zero interest in retaliating against those who rejected Him. He showed mercy and sought forgiveness for them because they did not know what they were doing.

(57-62) The Cost of Following Jesus
The road that Jesus walks is not an easy one and He requires those who would follow Him to be all in. We can’t be concerned about trivial matters that distract us from His mission. Mark Batterson said, “The gospel costs nothing, but it demands everything.” It demands our time, attention, and talent. It might even demand our life. We cannot follow Jesus and something/someone else. W must follow Him with everything that we have, everything that we are, and everything that we hope to be.

Favorite verse: (60) And Jesus said to him, “Leave the dead to bury their own dead. But as for you, go and proclaim the kingdom of God.”
