John 5:1-24
(1-17) The Healing at the Pool on the Sabbath
When Jesus the Christ encountered a person in need of healing, He often asked that person if they wanted to be healed, as He did to the man at the pool who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. Christ will not force healing, salvation, or anything else on us unless we want. We must ask Him into our hearts; He will not force His way inside. There are some people who are content in their lostness and so used to their spiritual sickness, that they reject any opportunity that would make them well. They fear how much their lives would change if they were to do something different or accept something new. We must not become used to being lost, that we do not desire to be found, or satisfied with blindness that we do not desire sight.

(18) Jesus Is Equal with God
Being the Son does not make Jesus less than His Father. He is equal with God and holds all power with Him.

(19-24) The Authority of the Son
God the Father and Christ the Son work together in tandem. There is nothing that Christ does that God does not do and does not approve of. The Son receives His authority from the Father, and everything that the Son does is approved by the Father. When we honor the Son, we are honoring the Father. Those who seek to know the Father, must first know the Son.

Favorite verse: (24) Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life. He does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
