New Testament In a Year: June 1 – John 13:1-20

John 13:1-20
(1-20) Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet
Jesus’ entire life was one of love. Each miracle He performed, each person He healed, and every word that He spoke was motivated by love. All those who were placed under His care, He loved. Christ knew from the beginning that Judas, who was one of His own, would betray Him. Knowing this didn’t stop Christ from loving His betrayer. He loved him, He loved them all to the end.

Christ loves us with this same kind of love today. Knowledge of our sins doesn’t stop Him from loving us. He will love us to the end, as well. Christ won’t stop loving us.

Even though He was facing death, Christ was not afraid. He knew that He had come from God. He knew that He was going back to God. When it comes time for us to depart out of this world, we have no need to be afraid either. We do not die and disappear into some uncertain dark unknown. We die and go back to the One we came from. We go back to our Father.

Favorite verse: (1) Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.
