Acts 5:22-42
(22-42) The Apostles Arrested and Freed
The high priest reminds the apostles that they were ordered not to teach in Jesus’ name, and the apostles answer, “We must obey God rather than men.” Before His ascension, Jesus the Christ told His disciples to go into all the world and preach the Gospel. They were witnesses to the life, death, and resurrection of Christ, and the Holy Spirit empowered them to share what they were witnesses to with others. The apostles were more interested in obeying God by commencing and fulfilling the Great Commission than in obeying men and remaining silent.

The apostles rejoiced when they were beaten because they counted it worthy to suffer for Christ’s name. Jesus the Christ suffered for our sins; should we shrink back when it comes time for us to suffer for His sake?

Favorite verse: (39) But if it is of God, you will not be able to overthrow them. You might even be found opposing God!” So they took his advice.
