Romans 9:1-15
(1-15) God’s Sovereign Choice
Paul’s sorrow and anguish over the lostness of his race of people – the Israelites – is so great, that he wishes he were accursed and cut off from Christ in order for them to be saved. Even though Christ came from their race in the flesh and despite being blessed with the glory, covenants, law, etc., from God, many Israelites still do not have a personal relationship with their Creator.

Because of salvation made available through Christ, God no longer considers Israel a physical nation only made up of people who are birthed directly through the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. All those who are justified by faith in Jesus the Christ become His sons and daughters, are made children of the promise, and are made citizens of that holy nation.

Favorite verse: (5) To them belong the patriarchs, and from their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ, who is God over all, blessed forever. Amen.
