New Testament In a Year: August 14 – Romans 15:1-13

Romans 15:1-13
(1-7) The Example of Christ
We should follow the example of Christ and strive to please others instead of just pleasing ourselves. Christ first pleased His Father, and then pleased others by building them up in the faith and encouraging them in God. It is not always easy for those who are strong spiritually to support those who are weak, but the ‘God of endurance and encouragement’ will give us the patience we need to glorify Him by helping others.

(8-13) Christ the Hope of Jews and Gentiles
Just as Christ has gladly received all people – both Jews and Gentiles – into His family, we must also receive others regardless of their differences. God, Who embodies hope, will fill us with joy and peace in believing, so that by the Holy Spirit’s power, hope can also be produced in our lives.

Favorite verse: (13) May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.
