New Testament In a Year: September 7 – 2 Corinthians 1

2 Corinthians 1
(3-11) God of All Comfort
God does not leave us to suffer alone. In the middle of our affliction and suffering, God comforts us, and it is with this same comfort that we should comfort others with when they suffer. Just as we share in Christ’s sufferings, we also share in His comfort.

Paul tells of one time when he was in such despair that he thought for sure he would die. God delivered him, however, and Paul came to trust that God would deliver him again and again. We are sometimes put in despairing situations so that we can come to rely on God (who is able to raise the dead and do other impossible things), instead of relying on ourselves.

Favorite verse: (20) For all the promises of God find their Yes in him. That is why it is through him that we utter our Amen to God for his glory.
