Colossians 3
(1-17) Put On the New Self
We are no longer dead in our flesh and our sins. We have been raised with Christ and are now alive in Him.Therefore, our minds should be focused on eternal things that are above, not on transient things that are here below. We need to be pursuing Heavenly rewards, goals, and treasures that are Christ-approved.

Because we are alive in Christ pursuing Heavenly things, all earthly things should be put to death in us. Before we were saved it was natural for us to be angry, wrathful, and full of trash talk. It was easy for us to lie to others. But now we must put all of that away. We must throw off our old self along with our old actions and put on the new self which reflects its Creator, Jesus the Christ. This new self looks the same on all who put it on, regardless of race, language, culture, or status, because Christ is all and He is the same in all.

Instead of anger, wrath, lies, and the like defining us, our life should be defined by holiness, compassion, kindness, humility, meekness, patience, and forgiveness. Just as God has forgiven us, so we ought to forgive others regardless of what they do to us. And above all of the aforementioned good things, we must put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.

If everything that we do is done in the name of Christ and done for Christ then nothing we do is done in vain.
