1 Thessalonians 5
(1-11) The Day of the Lord
When the second coming of Jesus the Christ takes place, it should not surprise us because we are not in darkness, but in light. We live with the awareness that He can come at any moment. We are expecting Him to come every day. Because of this knowledge, we should avoid evil, remain sober, and work in faith and love and hope. We are destined for eternal salvation, not wrath. Whether we are alive or dead when Christ comes, we will live with Him.
(12-28) Final Instructions and Benediction
The Christian life is not to be lived alone. Paul repeatedly urges Christian believers to live in peace with one another, to encourage and help one another, and to always look for ways to do good to one another and to all people. Because the will of God is being done in our lives, we can always rejoice and be thankful in all circumstances. Our God, who is faithful, will certainly come as He said.
