2 Thessalonians 1
(3-4) Thanksgiving
Paul thanks God that the faith of the Thessalonian believers is growing, and that their love for one another is increasing. As long as we live, this is what should be taking place in our lives – our faith should never stop growing, and our love for God and others should never stop increasing. Regardless of what afflicting circumstances that we may be placed in, we are to endure them with steadfastness and faithfulness.

(5-12) The Judgment at Christ’s Coming
When Christ comes, those who chose not to know God and those who chose not to obey the Gospel of Jesus, will be judged. The worst part of suffering the punishment of eternal destruction is that those who endure this suffering will be forever separated from God and His goodness. They will be without light, without love, without truth, without life, without beauty, without hope for all of eternity and there will never be another opportunity for them to have these good things. May God make us worthy of His calling and give us His power to do every work of good and every work of faith, so that His Son will be glorified in us and us in Him.
