1 Timothy 2
(1-15) Pray for All People
As believers we are to pray for ourselves, for other Christians, and for all people. We should pray for our governmental leaders and all those who are in positions of power. Instead of criticizing or complaining or crying, God is pleased when we pray about things and people and situations in our lives. It is God’s desire for all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth which is found in Jesus the Christ. When we pray, we can be assured that God hears our prayers, because Christ acts as a mediator between us and Him. God does not hear our prayers in light of our imperfectness and sin, but in light of Christ’s righteousness and the sacrifice He made on the cross.
It is not a sin for women to dress themselves in fashionable clothes or do their hair or wear jewelry. However, Paul wants women – especially those who profess Christ – to first make sure that their lives are defined by good works. More emphasis is to be placed on inward beauty than outward beauty.
