Hebrews 4
(1-13)
Everyone who places their faith in Jesus the Christ experiences rest from the guilt of sin and the shadow of death. But there still remains God’s eternal rest which we will not experience until we reach Heaven. It is by faith that we will enter that rest as well.

The Word of God is able to convict us, encourage us, and discern the thoughts and intentions of our hearts because it is living and active. The Word of God is not something that was spoken in the past; it is something that is speaking in the present and is already speaking in the future.

(14-16) Jesus the Great High Priest
We have a great high priest in Jesus the Christ who is now in Heaven and through Him we have direct access to God. Despite Christ’s present glory and high position, He is not removed from us. Because He experienced every temptation while here on earth, yet remained without sin, He is able to perfectly sympathize with our weaknesses and identify with us in every respect. Whenever we find ourselves in need, He is available to provide us with mercy and grace. We can humbly approach His throne with confidence and boldness and make our requests known, because Christ has commanded us to do so.

Favorite verse: (16) Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
