Hebrews 8
(1-13) Jesus, High Priest of a Better Covenant
Our high priest, Jesus the Christ, is currently at the right hand of the throne of God the Majesty in heaven. The place where He is now was set up by God, and not by human hands. As high priest, Christ is also the mediator of a covenant that is better than what the other priests could ever mediate. The gifts and sacrifices that they offered only served as a copy and a shadow of the heavenly gift and sacrifice that Christ offered – that of Himself.

With Christ’s better covenant, He promises to put His law in our minds and on our hearts. He promises to be our God if we become His people. He will remember our sins no more. Christ’s better covenant is enacted on better promises and built on mercy.

Favorite verse: (10) For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.
