New Testament In a Year: November 15 – Hebrews 11:20-40

Hebrews 11:20-40
(20-40) By Faith (cont.)
The recounting of the faith of Old Testament figures is continued here. Abraham and Sarah set good and Godly examples by living lives of faith, and their descendants followed suit. Isaac, Jacob, Esau, Joseph, Moses, and many others after them took God at His word and believed His promises. As a result, God caused them to grow into a large people, delivered them from bondage in Egypt, and brought them through the Red Sea and many other toils, snares, temptations, and trials into the Promised Land.

It was by faith that Biblical believers were able to defy the odds and accomplish impossible things. It was by faith that they endured persecution and out of weakness, found strength. Likewise, it is by faith that we too will find the power to remain faithful to God despite opposition. It is by faith that we will receive the strength to fulfill the purpose that God wants us to fulfill in spite of our weakness.

Favorite verse: (16) But as it is, they desire a better country, that is, a heavenly one. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared for them a city.
