2 Peter 2
(1-22) False Prophets and Teachers
Just as there were false Christian prophets and teachers in Peter’s day, there are and will be false prophets and teachers today. We must be on guard against these types of characters to ensure that we do not allow ourselves to be led away from the faith. Everyone who claims to be of Christ, is not! Those who follow false teachers are denying the truth of Christ and will only bring destruction upon themselves.

God will deal with false teachers in the same way He has dealt with other ungodly people. He judged the angels of Lucifer’s rebellion by casting them into hell and darkness. He judged the ancient world by destroying it with a flood. He judged Sodom and Gomorrah by turning these two cities to ashes. However, in each of these cases only the ungodly were punished and the righteous were saved. The angels who did not join in Lucifer’s rebellion remained with God in Heaven. Noah and his family were preserved on an ark. Lot was rescued from the destruction of the wicked. So it will be in the last day – those who were false teachers of Christ and those who did not believe in Christ at all will be judged, but those who believed and lived righteously will be saved.

Favorite verse: (16) But was rebuked for his own transgression; a speechless donkey spoke with human voice and restrained the prophet’s madness.
